Health Level 2

Would you like to ‘take action’ in our community to help promote a healthy lifestyle? Investigate a resilient person and identify what makes them great? Learn about sexuality and gender to stop discrimination? 

Health Education is the place to do this, leaning about how and why different actions can enhance and promote healthy lifestyles. 

Students will be required to think critically and creatively to develop constructive solutions that support and enhance well-being as well as evaluating different actions taken in the community. 

Assessments:

AS91237 Take action to enhance an aspect of people's well-being within the school or wider community

AS91239 Analyse issues related to sexuality and gender to develop strategies for addressing the issues

AS91236 Evaluate factors that influence people's ability to manage change

AS91235 Analyse an adolescent health issue




Course Overview

Term 1
Focus on promoting and implementing a class-led health initiative within the local community

Term 2
Examine issues relating to sexuality and gender that people all over the world face on a daily basis

Term 3
Develop an understanding of how change, positive or negative, encourages resilience within people

Term 4
Exam preparation focusing on an adolescent health issue

All standards are theory-based with 3 internally assessed standards and 1 externally assessed standard as an NCEA exam
