Course Description

You should have a passion for art and creativity, so junior level Art and an Art based subject at Level 1 would help. If you have not done these classes you will have to convince us that this is the right course for you. 


Visual Art Design 

Level 2 Visual Art Design explores a range of personalised themes. The assessments are aimed at youth related subject matter exploring contemporary advertisement and marketing design. As the course progresses you will generate your own resources by using photographs or illustrated-based works. Design formats may include; character development, page layout, DVD inserts, pop-ups, display stands, book covers and brochures. At this level you are also taught critical understanding of such things as negative space, design composition and typography. This process is learnt through both hand and computer generated techniques using Adobe Photoshop.

Achievement Standard 2.2 (Use drawing methods to apply knowledge of conventions appropriate to design)

Achievement Standard 2.3 (Develop ideas in a related series of drawings appropriate to established design practice)

Complete 2.2 and 2.3 by week 5

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

Students will need to cover all their costs for printing their coursework and external boards. This is not done via the accounts office, but paid by the student when printing is needed. (You can expect the costs for the course to be around $60-80).

One museum or gallery trip $20.
