Course Description

Recommended Prior Learning

No prior learning is needed for Year 10 Drama. The only requirements are a readiness to engage in the class activities and support their classmates by maintaining a positive learning environment.


The Year 10 Drama course is built on practical experimentation with a wide range of activities. Students will work in Group Devised, Paired and whole class exercises. They will learn to manipulate voice, movement, physical character and space through mask, improvisation, game playing and simple script exercises. There are extension opportunities to begin working with Lighting and Set Design as well as extending their interest into public performances at events and festivals with the Thames High Troupe.

Drama builds communication and personal qualities towards work in Service Industries, Travel & Tourism, Education, and Retail. Thames High has strong relationships with many arts industry professionals, performing troupes, artists and event coordinators and the Year 10 Drama course is an excellent first step into those worlds.
