Recommended Prior LearningNo prior experience is necessary. The only requirements that participants must have sufficient enthusiasm to engage in at least three new skills, and the self-discipline to do so safely and with consideration for those around them.
Cirque is about engaging with some the weird and wonderful skills that help make Theatre, Festivals, Social Media, Events and... well, 'Life in general' just a little more exciting, a little more enjoyable. The course develops confidence and builds motor skills through complex movement concepts. Participants utilise basic safety management strategies and develop enhanced personal identities by seeing themselves succeeding in activities beyond everyday, ordinary life.
Students are expected to become proficient in at least 3 of the following activities:
Stilt Walking Juggling Whip Tricks Fire Performance Mime Axe Throwing Unicycling
Acro-movement Acro-balance Sleight of Hand Puppetry Object Manipulation Balloon Sculpting
There is no expectation of public performance in this course; however, students wanting to work with the Thames High Troupe can use this course to develop acts and extend their skillbase.
