Physical Education is a practical, hands on approach to learning about recreation, teamwork and how the human body works. Students challenge themselves to develop their physical abilities, identify and improve interpersonal skills as well as gain understanding of how the human body functions to improve performance. Physical Education engages and energizes students in authentic contexts in which to learn.
AS 90966 Demonstrate interpersonal skills in a group and explain how these skills impact on others (4 credits)
AS 90962 Participate actively in a variety of physical activities and explain factors that influence own participation (5 credits)
AS 90963 Demonstrate understanding of the function of the body as it relates to the performance of physical activity (5 credits)
AS 90964 Demonstrate quality movement in the performance of physical activity (3 credits)
Recommended Prior Learning
Have success and interest in Physical Education at year 10, as well as English and Science. An interest in the human body and physical activity is a must. A willingness to participate in practical lessons in a range of different contexts.
This course is eligible for subject endorsement.
