Course Description

L3 French

Throughout this year students are aiming to use language variably and effectively to express and justify their own ideas and opinions, and to support or challenge those of others.

Students studying Level Three French will focus on the world that surrounds them including topics such as social issues, relationships and the environment.

Recommended Prior Learning

Students enrolling in this course must have studied French at Level Two.

Assessment Information

Throughout the year there will be practice assessments for listening and reading as well as the internal assessment standards of speech, interactions and writing.
There will be tests of the Level 3 vocabulary once a week as well as the expectation that students work on this continuously in their own time.
The course offers 24 credits towards NCEA Level 3. All standards will be attempted throughout the year and final entry can be negotiated once there is a clear understanding of where each individual’s strengths are.


Courses outlined will only be available if sufficient students wish to take them AND appropriate staff are available to teach them. Courses that do not run may be offered through distance learning and be supported by the Distance Learning Department.
