DRA101

Drama Level 1

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Matua Paora-Quirk

Drama 101

Drama is a practical subject, which means students learn by doing. It will allow students to build confidence in themselves, develop time management skills, improve their performance skills and learn personal and interpersonal skills such as cooperation, communication, self-discipline and creative thinking. We create a safe and fun environment to explore concepts in our society, in world history and in our own thinking. Students who have a career interest in lighting, sound, costume or stage makeup may be able to undertake specific standards at the HOD Drama’s discretion.

Pathway

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

Students must have ‘Performance Blacks’ – black t-shirt and pants to be worn for assessment pieces.

There may be a trip to see live theatre. We keep the cost down as much as possible.

Recommended Prior Learning

Drama in Year 10 is ideal, but if you are willing to participate fully and have great attendance then we will usually accept you.
